MUSIC EXPLORATION
A Unique Approach to Music Lessons
One-on-one Music Exploration classes focus on developing a love of all things music. Using your child's specific interests, Music Exploration classes give children access to explore music in their own way, at their own pace. This is the time when we want to spark their love of music in a supportive and safe setting. Rather than focus on one specific instrument or teaching method, these classes allow for creativity and spontaneity and are a perfect way for young ones to begin exploring the world of music!
WHAT DOES A MUSIC EXPLORATION CLASS LOOK LIKE?
Each Music Exploration class is structured around the interests and strengths of each explorer, therefore no two classes are the same! During the exploration time, your child will be encouraged to create, sing, move, ask questions, and take the lead. There is never homework or assigned practice, only suggestions to build upon each child’s interests.

I arrive at their house and an explorer immediately expresses an interest in learning about the tuba. So, we may spend our time that day researching tubas. What do they look like? What do they sound like? What are they made of? How do you play them? Can you dance to tuba music?
In the middle of a class, an explorer starts to make up their own song. We may shift focus and spend the rest of our time expanding on the songwriting process. Do we need a plan? Are we improvising? Are we writing lyrics or using instruments? Should we add rhythming lyrics?
An explorer expresses interest in a specific song or band. We might spend our time listening together, talking about the music and lyrics, drawing to the music, creating a choreographed dance, learning the song on an instrument, playing along with the song...

WHO ARE MUSIC EXPLORATION CLASSES FOR?
These classes are designed for early childhood, 12 months to 5-years. Children 3-5 have the option to participate in classes by themselves. Infants and toddlers, 12-months-3 years should participate with a parent or caregiver to further encourage relationship-building.

HOW LONG IS A MUSIC EXPLORATION CLASS?
The length of the class is determined by what is right for your child! For younger explorers, we typically begin at 30-minutes with the option to extend to 45-minutes or 60-minutes depending on their interest and attention.
WHERE ARE MUSIC EXPLORATION CLASSES HELD?
Wherever is most comfortable for your little explorer! Classes are offered in-home, virtually, or at an agreed-upon outdoor setting.
HOW MUCH DO MUSIC EXPLORATION CLASSES COST?
Prices are determined by the length and location of each class as well as the number of classes per month. Classes are offered weekly and bi-weekly. Please contact me for more information and to get a quote for your Music Exploration classes.
